MEDICARE & REMOTE CARE

It's no secret that for years Medicare has been struggling to contain costs while also improving patient care. Truly a tall order. So in 2015 they created an "experiment" in which they agreed to pay physicians for "remote care", in other words, for providing care via telephone, "Zoom" calls, etc., to augment office visits, to see if this helped in containing costs, while improving patient "outcomes". The results have been so overwhelmingly positive (see the results in the block above) that they are now promoting the program to physicians across the entire USA.

In early 2024 Medicare published the booklet shown on the right to let physicians know how dramatically Remote Care can benefit their patients, their medical practices, and their communities.
